Метла, веник — предмет домашнего обихода, наделяемый в магических представлениях демоническими и защитными свойствами. Метла является атрибутом мифологических персонажей, орудие порчи и колдовства, но в то же время оберег от них, средство избавления от порчи, сглаза, болезней, орудие отгона злых духов. Привычная функция метлы как инструмента метения сообщает ему противоположные свойства — чистоты и нечистоты.
